Lithuania has become the European country with the highest fiber broadband (Fibre To The Home (FTTH)) penetration of 18 %, according to a survey from FTTH Council Europe. The number of FTTH home subscribers in Lithuania is higher than in Sweden, Italy and France.

The former No. 1, Sweden, has dropped to the 2nd place in the European ranking, and is followed by Norway and Slovenia, which all have a FTTH penetration of more than 10 %. Estonia, Denmark, Slovakia, Finland, the Netherlands and Italy are placed 5th to 10th.

FTTH connectivity is making a rapid progress in many European markets. Currently, 15 European countries have reached a penetration of 1 % or more, according to the FTTH Council Europe. France and Portugal broke into the ranking for the first time. In absolute figures Europe has reached 2.5 million subscribers.
