- Volumes of Investments Consistently Growing
Statistics Lithuania informs that, based on provisional data, FDI in Lithuania as of 1 October 2009 amounted to EUR 9.9 billion, which is by 3.3 % more than as of 1 July 2009 (EUR 9.6 billion) and by 0.7 % more than as of 1 October 2008 (EUR 9.8 billion). Also, as of 1 October 2009, direct investment of Lithuanian enterprises abroad amounted to EUR 1.7 billion, which is by 3.8 % more than as of 1 July 2009 (EUR 1.6 billion) and by 15.3 % more than as of 1 October 2008 (EUR 1.4 billion).
The largest FDI in Lithuania came from Sweden – EUR 1.2 billion (12.2 % of total FDI), Germany invested EUR 1 billion (10.6 %), Denmark – EUR 1.1 billion (10.5 %), Poland – EUR 990 million (10 %), Russia – EUR 669 million (6.8 %), and Estonia – EUR 663 million (6.7 %). FDI from EU-27 countries amounted to EUR 7.8 billion (78.9 % of total FDI), and from CIS countries – EUR 729 million (7.4 %).
As of 1 October 2009, the largest investment was made in manufacturing – 26.6 %, real estate, renting and business activities – 15.1 %, transport, storage and communication – 14.7 %, financial intermediation – 14.3 %, and wholesale and retail trade – 13 % of total FDI.
The largest direct investment of Lithuanian enterprises – EUR 353 million (21.2 % of total direct investment abroad) – was made in the Netherlands, while direct investment in Latvia amounted to EUR 295 million (17.8 %), Russia – EUR 188 million (11.4 %), Poland – EUR 127 million (7.6 %), and Ukraine – EUR 110 million (6.5 %).
Direct investment of Lithuanian enterprises in EU-27 countries amounted to EUR 1.2 billion (74.7 % of total direct investment abroad), and in CIS countries – EUR 344 million (20.6 %).www.lda.lt
