New country brand suggested: Lithuania, at the heart of the Baltics
New country brand suggested: Lithuania, at the heart of the Baltics

A new brand and slogan has been suggested for Lithuania. The idea has originated with Marius Jovaiša, who said: “We have brought exhibitions of “Unseen Lithuania” to 15 states around the world this year. We often need to explain where Lithuania is located during the opening ceremonies and presentations. I have noticed that a good way to do it is to mention the word “Baltic”, because many more people know about the Baltic Sea than about Lithuania”.

An idea to present Lithuania as a key Baltic State – the heart of the Baltics – originated with Jovaiša in the spring of 2009. “Lithuania is the largest among the Baltic States, we have impressive history, we had a national state in the 13th century, and we serve a bridge between the East and the West, the North and the South – due to these and a lot many other reasons we can claim to be at the heart of this region; but first of all I wanted to make sure that my idea is viable, that it is supported by the public and experts, therefore we have carried out several studies”, Jovaiša said.

“The logo artwork is based on the Vytis, the oldest coat of arms in Europe. The stylized and simplified Vytis is engraved in aheart-shaped amber. At the meeting point of the yellow and red there is a green slogan: Lithuania, at the heart of the Baltics. That is how the national flag colours are represented in the logo”, says Marius Jovaiša.

Back in October, a survey conducted by RAIT shows 70% support to the new brand across Lithuania. Lithuanian organisations, companies, public agencies and the public at large are expected to help spreading it. Marius Jovaiša hopes that this brand might work successfully outside Lithuania.
